Eren Mete

My work begins with observation patient, unhurried watching. I spend long hours in forests, along coastlines, and in the quiet company of animals, studying how light moves across fur and feather, how a landscape breathes differently at dawn than at dusk. These moments of stillness are where my paintings are born. I am drawn to the tension between fragility and resilience in nature. A single heron standing motionless in grey water. The way moss slowly reclaims stone. The unblinking calm of an animal that knows it is being watched. My work tries to hold these encounters not to document them, but to translate the feeling of being in their presence. Through layered textures and an earthy, muted palette punctuated by moments of vivid colour, I aim to create surfaces that feel alive that carry the weight and warmth of the natural materials that inspire them. Each piece is an invitation to pause, to look more closely, and to remember that we are not separate from nature but part of it.

Eren Mete is a visual artist whose work is rooted in a deep reverence for the natural world. Working across painting and mixed media, Eren seeks to capture fleeting moments a bird mid-flight, light filtering through canopy, the silent gaze of a creature at rest.
